Meet the maker
Rio Nuevo’s founders Sara Castañeda and Andres Altamirano grew up in Latin America. Both have now made England their home but their vision and passion to serve communities back in South America took them on an extraordinary chocolate making journey and a pursuit to give farmers a voice through ethically and directly sourced chocolate.

They craft delicious chocolate, using fairly and ethically sourced single estate Arriba Nacional Cocoa Beans from Ecuador which are considered the oldest and finest variety in the world. By working directly with the cacao farmers, paying them 65% above Fairtrade prices and shortening the supply chain, they help lift vulnerable communities out of poverty.
